I would warn any skeptics of fitness blogging and this whole sharing-and-discussing thing to check your cynicism at the door; finding others who are working their way to similar goals, and seeing the progress they’ve made, is one of the biggest boosts anyone can have when trying to kick their own ass into better shape.
One of the first blogs I found which proved this to me was that of Fred Anderson. Fred lost more than 170 pounds in two years, put his diabetes into permanent remission, and did it all without dieting, pills, or other fads. Just check out his transformation pictures.
Fred’s published his blog as a book, From Chunk to Hunk: Diary of a Fat Man, which I keep by my bedside and which serves as a major motivator for me. He is gradually re-publishing the book’s contents on his website, and I highly recommend catching up with his accomplishments and how he achieved them.
Even if you, like me, have far less than 170 pounds to lose at this point, the common sense that Fred speaks will provide useful affirmation on a daily basis. As he says (to paraphrase), we can buy all the vegetables and exercise equipment we can afford, but it’s in our mind where the decision about whether or not to become healthy is actually made. Feed your mind on what Fred has to say, and you will have greater strength with which to achieve your goals.

Wow, that is a fantastic achievement, Pat! Well done, and nice to learn something new about you. See, there’s more to us than business and blogs…!
I don’t think I’ll be a 6am-down-at-the-gym type, ever, unless I start going to sleep by 9PM every night. Would love to know how you manage it.

Thanks for letting us take part in your little adventure. Already, I’ve made a note to get some Wonderslim Cocoa the next time I go to Whole Foods. I only imagine, you’ll share other pearls of wisdom along your journey. You look great, by the way. And congratulations for shedding 100 lbs.

Thanks, Maya! While you’re at Whole Foods, check out Fabe’s mini chocolate chip cookies, which are all-natural and great, as well as the Laura’s Wholesome Junk Food Range (I like her mini brownie bitelettes, whereas my fiancĂ© prefers her mini chocolate chip cookies to the Fabe’s), which uses dates, rice syrup, and other natural ingredients to make really nice ‘indulgences’ which aren’t really that indulgent.
